SOCCER SILICON VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION PROJECTS

LIGHT THE NIGHT WALK

Soccer Silicon Valley Community Foundation partnered with the San Jose Earthquakes and Club Quake to co-sponsor a contingent of Earthquakes fans participating in the October 4, 2008
"Light the Night Walk" in Palo Alto to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and their effort to find a cure for these deadly scourges.

Earthquakes players Ryan Cochrane and Kelly Gray participated in the walk.  Over 100 fans walked with us and wore Quakes blue to support this cause.

Every Earthquakes fan who walked with our contingent and participated with at least a $25 donation received a free officially-licensed event t-shirt in Quakes blue with the Quakes logo courtesy of SSVCF, Club Quake and our partners at California Custom, which provided us the shirts at cost.

As part of the team's effort to support LLS, the San Jose Earthquakes also auctioned Earthquakes and other teams' autographed game-worn player jerseys during the August 30 match between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Kansas City Wizards at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, with proceeds benefiting LLS.  For tickets, visit the Earthquakes' website at www.sjearthquakes.com.

Additionally, SSVCF made a $3500 donation to LLS in memory of Luke Dunivant -- the brother of former Earthquakes (and current Toronto FC) defender Todd Dunivant -- who died in early 2008 from complications of leukemia.  We encouraged fellow Earthquakes fans to also make donations in memory of Luke Dunivant, and altogether, Quakes fans raised over $11,000 in Luke Dunivant's memory and nearly $15,000 total.  We presented the check from SSVCF to Margie Boyce, Executive Director of LLS in the Bay Area, and Todd Dunivant at the SSVCF annual dinner on October 24, the night before the Quakes' home match against Toronto on October 25.
